Winterize Your Curls: Revitalize or Risk it All!

Winter weather and the drastic change in temperatures can become Curly hair's No. 1 enemy. Your curls, which are already naturally prone to dryness, crave even more moisture during the harsh dry winter months. Whether you are outside in the cold or indoors feeling cozy with the heat on, both can jeopardize the health of your curly hair.  As we prepare to delight in the Holiday Season you shall also consider modifying your routines and regimens to include both protective and replenishing steps to avoid the winter curly blues.

Here are 12 ways to make sure you Joy to the Curls all winter long. The More Moisture the Merrier the Curls!

1. Avoid Wash and Go’s:
Wash and style your hair the day/night before this way the next morning all you need to do is reactivate/refresh the products.

2. Intense Overnight Oil Treatment:
Coat your scalp and hair shaft with The Embrace The Curl Omega Rich Oil the night prior to your wash day.  After applying the oil to the scalp and hair shaft, cover with a plastic cap, sit under a bonnet dryer {med/low temperature} for 10-15 minutes. Once the 10-15 minutes is achieved, leave the plastic cap on and now place a satin bonnet over it. The purpose is to sleep with the treatment in your hair overnight while you sleep, this way your hair will bask in the oil and the absorption will intensify with your body's natural thermal heat adding a mega boost of moisture.

3. Add a little Steam:
On your wash day, we recommend you include adding a 10-15 minute steam treatment along with Embrace the Curl Strengthening Mask This will encourage optimal harmony for your curls hydration, moisture, and protein which means triple protection against the cold weather woes.

4. Condish with a Twist:
Following The Embrace the Curl Strengthening Hair Mask and steam treatment, we recommend rinsing then adding our Purity Co-wash Conditioner for a 5-10 minutes deep condish. This final conditioner will be rinsed under a cooler water setting to help close the cuticle flaps and seal in the moisture.

5. Omega Rich Oil Spray:
Add the Omega Rich Oil in a spray bottle with water, give the bottle a good shake. Here it is, your own conditioning spray, carrying amazing properties for your hair. Just remember to shake it before each use. This refresh spray  provides nutrients that will leave your hair supple, shiny, and smooth without compromising its volume or leaving your hair feeling oily. The lightweight formula can also be used on dry hair between washes to restore lost moisture and give manageability to hair.

6. Plopp so your Curls wont Flop:
Opt for a Flour Sack towel which is the perfect combination of a micro-fiber towel and a soft cotton t-shirt. Use this to plopp excess water once your wash routine and styling is complete.  Leaving curls plopped for 10-20 minutes will speed up the drying time.

7. Diffuse to Prevent Frizz
After plopping, diffuse until curls are 100% dry for a frizz-free finish
Diffusing hair on cool air breaks down the water into easily absorbable particles that your hair can readily accept. Resulting in significantly less frizz.

8. Scalp Massage for all & for all a goodnight:
Scalp massages with The Omega Rich Oil every night or every other night. Applying 1 small oil drop to 4 fingertips, rub your fingertips together then apply evenly to your scalp. Massage gently, applying moderate pressure for at least 5 minutes. This will increase blood circulation to your scalp. Increased blood circulation promotes growth.

9. Seal & Shield:
Using The Omega Rich Oil on your tips/ends after styling will act as a sealant creating a barrier between your hair and the variables of the weather as well as rough textured sweaters, coats, and hats that your hair is forced to rub against throughout the season.

10. Protect with an Updo:
Consider more updos and protective styles like braids and twist. Central heat, bitter cold winds, and the frost from bittersweet snowfall can all wither your strands. Using our it's my Beeswax & Coconut Hair Cream provides both hold and moisturizing benefits at the same time for easy protective styles.

11. Soft under Satin:
Line your hoods and hats with a satin scarf to keep the wool and cotton from absorbing the moisture from your curls and possibly causing breakage.

12. Vitamin win win:
Include a Liquid Hair Growth Vitamin into your daily nutritional intake.
A formula complete with a proprietary blend of  antioxidants, essential B vitamins including B1, B2, B3, B5, Biotin, Folic Acid, and vitamin B12 will promote healthy hair growth, enhance the strength of each hair strand, and  in a liquid form will increases the integrity of  absorption up to 98% of the directly into the bloodstream vs. only 20% from a pill.
